Telehealth Consultation Consent
What is Telehealth?
Telehealth allows healthcare providers to consult with patients remotely using secure electronic communications such as video, audio, and data sharing. Information shared during a telehealth visit may be used for diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and education and may include health records, live two-way audio and video, and data from health devices.
Benefits of Telehealth
- Improved access to care without in-person visits.
- The convenience of attending appointments from home.
- Efficient evaluation and management of health concerns.
- The ability to consult with specialists from different locations.
Potential Risks
- The quality of transmitted images or data may be insufficient for clinical decisions.
- Equipment or technology failures could delay treatment.
- Rare breaches of privacy may occur despite security protocols.
- Incomplete medical records may lead to gaps in care.
Your Rights
By proceeding with telehealth services from Psychiatry Today, you acknowledge and agree:
- Your personal health information will remain confidential and will not be shared with third parties without your consent, except as required by law.
- You have the right to withhold or withdraw consent for telehealth at any time without affecting future care.
- You have the right to view all information collected during telehealth interactions.
- You will not share your telehealth appointment link with unauthorized individuals.
Telehealth is not for emergencies. If you are in crisis or experiencing a medical emergency, do not use telehealth. Call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.
How to Withdraw Consent
You may withdraw your consent for telehealth at any time. To do so, contact our care team through your patient portal or reply to any appointment confirmation email. Withdrawing consent will not affect your right to receive future care through other appropriate channels.
